Chief Scientific Officer Byondis
Wim was appointed Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Byondis in 2019. He brings more than 25 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology experience, leading international and multidisciplinary teams in drug development programs, including the delivery of several clinical drug candidates in oncology, autoimmunity and diabetes.
Before being appointed to the Byondis leadership team, Wim was Executive Vice President, Preclinical, at Synthon Biopharmaceuticals. Prior to this, he was Director of Pharmacology and Immunology Program Leader at Schering-Plough, which merged with Merck & Co. (MSD). Before this, he began his R&D career in a progression of roles with broader responsibility at Organon.
A scientist and researcher, Wim has co-authored 50-plus peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals. He holds an MSc in (Bio)Chemistry and a PhD in Hematology and Oncology from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
